Surprise! This restaurant is appearantly the second best in Lucca. After one hour, we where told to leave, because they were expecting new guests! Not good! We were not ready to leave. Had not even finished our wine. However they rescued the situation by offering us a new table. So ok in the end, and the meal was tasty. But....

We have eaten several times in this small rustic restaurant and tried various items on the menu which have all been excellent. However, the tordelli (what the Lucchesi call tortelli) with their Bolognese style sauce are unsurpassed. We intend to go back to Lucca and Rusticanella will be our first stop. We stopped in for lunch based on Tripadvisor reviews and its proximity to our hotel. Its a small place and based on that pretty cramped trying to get in. I advice you with very pleasure... As a matter of flat, I can tell you which every dish is extraordinary.. but,above all,meat with herbs and spices are marvellous. Therefore,my friend come back to Rusticanella restaurant and you can discovery magic moments tasty. All the best.... Marco B.

We ate here twice during our 4 night stay in Lucca. Very good food, easy to find and prompt service (for Italy). The prices were really reasonable. Don't expect 4 star service but the food is brilliant, the price amazing and the atmosphere traditionally rustic, try the steaks and pork chops but don't forget to ask for the roast potatoes.
