The setting of the restaurant is very nice on a square in the old centre of Lucca. That is the good part. However, our food experience was not good. We wanted a Prosecco as aperitive. The sommelier was quick to point out that there was...no prosecco on the wine list. We took another sparkling wine as aperitive. EUR 24 for 2 glasses. I became worried when the waitress put a large piece of bread on the table. My starter (mazzancolla) was OK but nothing special. Two shrimps with mayonnaise on a slice of tomato. My main dish was chicken with truffle (pollo al tartufo) costing EUR 48. The chicken was OK but honestly there was no trace of truffle in the dish at all. My wife had a risotto puttanesca. The portion was minimal, max. 5 scoups costing EUR 32. The taste was OK but nothing special. I complained to the waitress about the the quality fo the food. The total bill was EUR 150. For me this is a tourist trap restaurant to be avoided and not worthy to bear the Michelin sign.More

It was an amazing experience. We ordered the full degustation menu with wine pairing and we were happy with our choice. The food was delicious and perfectly matched with the offered wines.

Wines were excellent and so was the sommelier service. However the small plates served at the start and between courses were soggy and not fresh. Service was not good except that provided by the trainee.

Best meal we have had in a decade. We'd read of the young chefs and expected something good, just not out of this world. Outdoors on the piazza, a last-minute change to the tasting menu. Each course better than the last, with warm service and...a relaxed atmosphere. Worth the voyage from Florence.More

Great service , unaware of status of the restaurant as booked by the hotel . If we would of known in advance, unlikely we would of booked . The food was over complicated, but presented well . The amuse bouche and fresh bread was nice...complimentary offer . The wine list is extensive and expensive but can be explained well by the staff . My husband had rabbit trottole pasta and I opted for puttanesca risotto. Both again well presented, taste wise okay but nothing particularly special. The price would be as expected for the type of restaurant and would be more appealing to those who appreciate this kind of food , presentation.More

We decided to try this restaurant because it was just outside our hotel doorway and rated highly on TA. More formal service than we expected but we enjoyed ourselves. We were given a complementary glass of Prosecco while we looked over the menu and wine...list. This restaurant asked you to choose between a la carte or course testing with an optional pairing at the time of our online reservation. We chose a la carte and we’re very satisfied. We enjoyed the between courses, "gift from the kitchen"! The items we enjoyed were the squid ink risotto with shrimp, sole meuniere, rabbit dumplings and monkfish. Most of the items in the course servings were available to order a la carte. Service was professional, the food was delicious and the setting outdoors on a lovely piazza was very nice!More

This used to be of our favourite restaurant in the beautiful walled city of Lucca but sadly no longer is due to change of management and revamp of the menu. Now instead of focusing on local Tuscan food and lore it tries to be a...trendy cutting edge food haven. The food is good but strange such as crab spaghetti or shrimp and pears. The courses are tiny and the prices expensive. The service is professional but each dish explained in deep culinary detail. Finally this establishment would be better suited for a hipster crowd in Milan, New York or South Beach, FloridaMore

Had a glass of wine which was passed it’s sell by date. Way too oxidised. Instead of just apologising , said it was suppose to be like that as it was a natural wine before changing it. Then try to take away a dishe while...still eating. Not a great experience from a well established place.More

I used to visit this restaurant some years ago, where the food was excellently cooked, and the lady of the house gently but firmly in charge, friendly, knowledgable and gave you immediate security that this was a good place to have dinner. My first visit...back since the pandemic, and it has changed - apparently it has gained a Michelin star; there are four staff - a young lady in charge, a young man as the sommelier (who knew about the wine and was very happy to use his preservative corkscrew), and two friendly professional younger staff. On a busy evening in the city, there were six tables being served. The amuse bouches were good, although not necessarily focused on local cuisine; the bread was made in house and fine; the rabbit pasta parcels were very good (combined with sliced green olives and tarragon), the millefeuille good but not exceptional. The wine was good and unusual, as you'd expect for the price. On paper there was nothing wrong with the food or service, but it has lost the charm, the security, the comfort. The senior staff were on 'broadcast' mode - when being told about the wine, I commented 'is it similar to Georgian orange wine?' which through the sommelier off what must be a script. I had a good dinner, in a good location: I cannot imagine I would visit again.More

I cannot express how much I enjoyed our experience here. A group of 12 of us were in Lucca to celebrate some milestones. I emailed the restaurant asking to do a private dinner and from the minute they responded it was seamless— they helped adjust...the menu for dietary needs, selected beautiful wine pairings, welcomed us to a gorgeous private room, offered us control of the music. The staff was incredible! Every need was met with so much kindness. And the food…… perfection! So so delicious and inventive. Everyone truly loved our evening there.More

Bad service, 6 course menu below expectations for a 1 star michelin restaurant. Waiter manager was rushing around, we had to explain 3 times that my friend was a vegetarian. At The starter and the first course, a meat plate was served. This is completely...unacceptable for a restaurant that claims 1 star michelin. 6 course menu playing with sweet, sour, acid contrasts, too much contrast in my opinion not achieving good end result. 2 of us left one of the dishes, waiter or maitre didn't ask why. Again, quite a bad impression for a restaurant that claims a michelin category. Wine pairing below expectations, the first three wines didn't pair with the food. Maitre not taking well comment. Overall, we had the feeling that the service was rushed without giving too much thought or attention. Bad experience, 6 course menu, wine pairing, and service below expectations of a 1 star michelin restaurant.More

I would say it's a "used to be", something happens there, what is most surprising is the Michelin star accredited to this restaurant which is no more than average in terms of culinary experience, service is a joke, small dining room, too many tables and...too close each other, service without a smile.More

Erratic quality of cuisine. Sometimes wonderful with Lorenzo. Sometimes a night of various chefs together there may have been too many chefs in the kitchen. Sommelier not well prepared. Yet everyone very friendly and welcoming.

Once the restaurant had a Michelin star but from that glory nothing remained. The reception by the maggiordomo was functional, not welcoming or hearty. After having talking our food order we did not see him back. The sommelier was functional not hearty or friendly. After...having talking notice of our wine choice we did not see him back. Then the food. The carpaccio it self was ok. But it was covered with a layer of “tartare sauce” that was so mistreated with tabasco that it took away all the taste of the meat. My partner had “ceviche” which had nothing to do with the real ceviche. It was served on a thin layer of a kind of toast which is ridiculous for a ceviche. Then the main course. We both choose stewed calf cheek. The structure of the meat was ok, well stewed as is should be. But there was a complete lack of taste. When you leave: no one to say goodbye or to thank you. To be short: the whole experience was a complete disappointment. Complete lack of interest in the customers by the people in charge, cooking without passion. Happily our waiter, a young man, did his best to serve us friendly. We will never go back and we don’t find the restaurant recommendable.More
