Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We just kind of happened upon this place, saw a sign saying Sunday lunch and decided to try it. The bar tender was super friendly and the lunch was excellent. I can highly recommend it. They only do it on Sunday though, the other days...it is something else like fish and chips.More

After looking for an alternative to places like la grotte and wonder bar we found this place as you can smoke bud drink and eat easy enough to find if you’ve got Google maps asked for a beer recommendation from lady behind the ramp dark...hair didn’t get her name she didn’t have a clue and asked the younger guy who just pointed at one of the pumps .. heard a lot of other reviewers mention Good beer recommendations from the staff here ? Not today son ! Anyway got the drinks quickly and prices were reasonable for Amsterdam 13 euro for two pints ! Went out the back for a cheeky dooobie and you know how it is the munchies set in ( terps army delivered on there stuff )!! If you now you know !! So went to the bar to order another drink and food .. paid for both assuming the drink would be poured then and there but it wasn’t ? Then was told my table number given a ticket and just assumed she’d bring the drink along with the food or shortly after ? Nope so sat there mouth drier than the look some Dutch fellow gave me if I asked him Could I smoke in his pub ( got the wrong place! Blame winston ! .. nickname For my wife the better half ! Anyway the beer did not arrive so awkwardly I had to go back up to the bar bare in mind I’m three joints deep and one of them was some cali shizzle that had my mouth and body not working together and one has come to expect !! Anyway I’m at the bar the legs are like Jelly the mouth is dry and the lady is like hey and I was like a I get the beer I ordered and another coke she went onto say you didn’t get the beer nope I didn’t you was meant to give me it?? Anyway I put it down to confusion but was beyond awkward let me tell you ! Food wise was decent that gravy they give you with the sausage in batter lovely bit of spice too it .. and fish was very good too would recommend if your after a place that offers everything service abit strange then awkward but these things can happenMore

Found the bar by accident whilst trying to get out of the rain. Asked for a beer recommendation and was given a sample. The atmosphere was friendly and the staff were both easy to get on with. I would recommend a visit.

Let’s keep it simple. The beer selection is outstanding. Knowledgable and very friendly staff who will give their beer recommendations. To cap it off it’s just very cozy and one of those places you sort of feel it’s your home from home. Can’t fault it

This was my go to beer drinking bar in Amsterdam. A couple of doors past Saint Nicholas' Basilica. Plenty of locals--but friendly to tourists as well. I was amazed and entertained by Amy's energy and great humor. And a wonderful lesson about Scotch that I...watched her give to a know-it-all patron!More

The food here is lovely and very reasonably priced compared to a lot of other places around. The staff were also lovely and very welcoming but the service was a bit slow due to there being only one staff member working. We didn't have to...wait too long for our food but we did have to wait a while to pay and there was no table serviceMore

British-style pub in Amsterdam. Our bartender was a Brit, as well as the chef. Pub food was delicious, and there was a good selection of European beers on hand. We went in for a late lunch, after a nap to recover from a trans-Atlantic flight....We heard a number of English regional accents spoken by other patrons, too.More

Battered sausage & chips, amazing! Really hit the spot after being stuck in the Netherlands for 2 years. Usually I’d go back to the UK every few months but corona has made that very difficult. I’ve been looking all over for battered sausages and had...no luck until now. The sausages were soooo good! Very friendly staff, they packed up a 2nd portion of sausage & chips and also fish & chips to take home with me on the train. Really good service and I’ll be back again for sure.More

I was there for my goodbye party in January 2019 and it was nice and amazing. I was back yesterday with some friends to have a drink and then we decided to order some food. Food was really good and the people in the kitchen...are amazing. At the bar NO! It's not allowed to smoke tabacco but only puur weed. A friend of mine was wrong and it's absolutely fine but the lady from the bar came straight to us in a very very crazy rude way yelling in dutch and pointing fingers and sending us away only because in the end we had a package of sigaretts on the table. The lady was completely out of her mind sending all people working there to kick us out, people fake friendly telling us then to f*** off and bla bla bla We took away our food we paid and left. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE and not the right away to give a service.More

I love it in here. The bar upstairs is cool and downstairs you can smoke also. The food is fantastic and I had the best roast dinner of my life it was delicious. It’s a very cool place and the staff are happy to help....We can not eat wheat and dairy and they changed things to suit our needs. I always go here when in the dam and it’s always been great. 10 out of 10.More
