Lovely atmosphere - warm and welcoming on a cold Winter's day. Delicious food, served quickly. Would recommend
Can't rate as not open but review will not go thru without a rating. Sadly shut down when we sought it out last week after all the good reviews. Check it is still in business before you go as not in the main street of Bruges. There are many good alternatives like Merveilleux
A great place to stop and have a bowl of soup, enjoy tea or coffee, and savor a croque monsieur or croque madame, all in a charming and elegant establishment. The servers were attentive and polite, as well as multilingual (French, English, etc.). Cafe Au Lait was a bright, clean, and an attractive place for a lunch.
The Cafe au Lait should really be called the Victorian Tea Rooms! It's just like the proper tea rooms that once existed in England and have been all but lost to the themed franchises like Costa and Starbucks. Small tables with white table cloths, waitresses with aprons and delicate afternoon tea and cake. Nevertheless the cafe au Lait served my... More
I love Cafe Au Lait and always make it a must stop whenever I'm in Brugge. Their waffles are to die for and their pancakes make any high tea an incredible affair. My personal favourite though is to keep things simple and go for a lovely inter continental breakfast on a Saturday or Sunday morning. It comes with lots of... More

After spending some time in Belgium (April 2012) without trying a waffle, I knew I had to try one before leaving. Oh my gosh, just walked into this lovely little restaurant and ordered one. Absolutely unbelievable! Presentation was lovely... More
This place was recommended for their waffles. They were so light and crisp. We have never tasted such ethereal waffles.
We were passing by this place and decided to go in just because we were really hungry. We ordered Meny of the day for less than 13€, which included soup (or coffee) and a main dish. Food was fresh and tasty. We noticed that people around were ordering deserts like waffles and creeps, which looked tempting. Add to it lovely... More
This was a nice little cafe. It has a few tables in a back courtyard too and you should choose one of these if it's sunny out! The pancakes are very good, the waffles are just average!
My partner and I visited Cafe Au Lait for breakfast after reading reviews on TA. We had actually walked past it the evening before without realising it and I think that's testament to the quite unremarkable frontage. Internally the cafe is very pleasantly decorated and light. The owner recognised us as being British immediately and offered us menus written in... More
