Having visited this restaurant for the first time in Sept. 2008, we were looking forward to returning there in May 2009. We were not disappointed, Le Marquis is first class in my opinion. We have had Lunch at Le Marquis last week and we must say, everything was above expectations. The warm welcome Helma gave us was like we came home after a long journey and the ambiance of the restaurant and also the garden terrace was magnificent. We dined at Le Marquis on our next to last night in Portugal. We stayed in a village called Le Mesquita at San bras Alportel and found this restaurant up in the hills away from everything. St Lukes Church was in the village, this beautiful restaurant that used to be a farmhouse and a retirement village. Absolutely beautiful, so peaceful.... more
