Cosy restaurant, also frequented by local people. Good explanation (with the help of a book about the fish of the Azores) about the food. Friendly staff.
Opposite the Santander Totta bank, this restaurant offers good, friendly service and excellent local produce with a wide choice of fish and meat. Tourists are given a book on Azorean fish to help decipher the menu.
We made a special effort to track down this restaurant because it was billed as really great Portuguese food. We tried to book by phone but no-one ever answered, so we took a chance and walked to that end of town. Imagine our disappointment when we stood in the doorway for a full 5 minutes with waiters and staff going... More

Our main dishes, Albacore tuna and trigger-fish, were completely disappointing: the tuna was really dry and overcooked, the... More

We went here for lunch and had a fantastic FRESH friend whole fish. LOVED IT!! The owner was friendly and the restaurant had a great old world feel. Also by chance was able to catch the TT stage of the Tour De France on the bar TV.
Great fresh fish, and absolutely love the Limpets! Other stuff was good too, as we went a couple of nights. Very nice and helpful staff. Clientele is 50/50 local/tourist, but it feels pretty authentic.
Another traditional Portuguese restaurant, rammed full with locals, serves local fresh fish. I had grey triggerfish fillets which were delicious and highly recommended. My husband a type of seabream which he equally enjoyed. Both were freshly cooked and served by friendly waiters. Can't go wrong.
