Having read some glowing reviews we were ready to try this place. We concluded the reviews were correct - excellent dinner all around. There is nothing more that need be said. more
We were a group of sixteen golfers from Ireland and thoroughly enjoyed an evening in this exqusite restaurant. It's hard to believe such a lively place hides behind it's modest entrance. The mohogany furniture suited this ancient building. The waiting staff were very easy on the eye too. The wonderful tapas style starters included Black Boar and Fresh Oysters. I... more
We heard from many (including this site) about this restaurant as a great experience. It met all expectations and exceeded some. To start: the place is almost impossible to find - taxis don't know and you have to have an eagle eye to spot the sign. And then you hesitate at the doorway - but once inside you are happy... more
The place is just stuning. The people are so nice and the food is of course EXCELLENT. Only negative point: they started too quickly with the starters that we didn't have time to order the wine... Too bad... A must in Lisbon - don't miss it! more
Good Portuguese food well cooked and presented. Ther starter course just kept coming with all sorts of local tasties. A pity they did not ask whether we wanted oysters before serving them - we would have preferred not to have had them. And we charged for them even so. Even so dinner was a good experience and next time we... more
Getting there was tricky. The GPS on the iPhone helped immensely through all of the narrow streets and turns. The trek was well worth it. We almost walked right by the discreetly placed A Travessa sign. Thank the food gods that we did not as this was one of my top culinary experiences to date. We were seated in an... more
We enjoyed A Travessa very much. You select your entree--I had an amazing John Dory and my husband had partridge. They bring you all the appetizers you could imagine---they are just served....we had scrambled eggs w/ wild mushroom, gazpacho, cheeses, crab, tons of stuff. They accommodated our friends who are vegetarians. This is a fun spot with great food and... more
Outstanding restaurant. A must for every Lisbon visitor. The service and the food were excellent. It is housed in a former monastery at the same place with the Marionette museum. It is very close to the French embassy and although difficult to be spotted, you should try to get there because the tasting experience is rewarding. The owner is very... more
Wonderful place, full of charm. The decor is great, both inside and out, the lighting is perfect: bright enough to see what you are eating, but yet soft enough to keep it romantic. Discreet but very efficient staff. I had a delicious partridge with foie gras in a puff pastry -- a house signature dish. My wife had a monkfish... more
