Went there on Friday, the service was abysmal and the way of ordering/paying was incredibly over-complicated and illogical...having to order at one woman on the other side of the counter and having to explain what pastry you wanted without the help of names...not to mention there were no prices. The pasteis themselves were pretty average and over-curdled, and the only... More

The original Portuguese custard tarts. I used to live in Lisbon and these are the best you can get. Eat in or take away. Long queues sometimes but worth it. Go late at night if you want to avoid queues. Eat a tart or more (you won't stop at one!!) with a coffee or hot chocolate. Hot choc is one... More

We were in Lisbon for a few days last week and took the tram to Belem district to try the custard tarts as highly recommended by my son. We were not disappointed. You may have to wait a few minutes for a table but it's well worth it. It looks quite a small place when you enter at first but... More

These are the original! You must try them! You can walk the calories off on your visit to the Tower and the Monastery. The pastries are delicious and the cafe is lovely. Go for lunch or coffee.

We got to the cafe at about 11am and there was a huge queue. The staff were very patient with our pointing at food to communicate and packed it up for us to take to the park across the road for a picnic. The tarts were definitely the best we tried in Lisbon, and we did try many!

It is well worth the one hour tram ride. Be sure to seat inside in order to get them warm just out of the oven.

The best Pastel de Belém in Lisbon. I've tasted others around Lisbon, but none can be comapred to this. Really worth to bite.

The Pasteis de Belem are to die for. We decided to treat ourselves to this excellent must visit stop, and we were not disappointed. Your taste buds will dance with delight! I had a few pasteis de belem, and then worried whether I would fit into my jeans once returning home because of eating so much on this trip. Travel... More
