This restaurant was recommended by a friend whose partner is Austrian. She made it sound like an amazing little family-run eatery. Maybe it once was. But no more! Positive points: - it is historic, supposedly - the food won't poison you - you will have a story to tell your friends and family about your (likely terrible) experience here Negative... more

We went there to try their weiner schnitzel but was very disappointed. It's not even weiner, not veal. We had much better schnitzel in many other places for much cheaper price. And how can you be self-claimed famous for schnitzel and not have the traditional weiner schnitzel made of veal, (instead they have the cheaper version pork). And we have... more

The fact that this place has big posters at the airport to advertise its existence says something I guess. The schnitzel is strange - yes large, but completely flat with none of the curliness that you normally get when cooking this dish. I have been there twice and both times it was done too dry. The wine list is really... more

We went to the Wollzeile -location on a Sunday evening, and had made a reservation, which was good as there was a queue to the restaurant. Service was very quick. We ate the schnitzel, of course, which was a bit of a disappointment, as it was pork and not veal as it originally should be. It weighed 250 g and... more

If you want to check off that you've been to "that famous Austrian place that serves the huge weiner schnitzels", then proceed by all means. The Wollzielle location was cramped and uncomfortably warm (I can only imagine what it's like in the summer), and while the food is good and the service brisk and efficient, it's nothing special. Consider Immervoll... more

Figlmuller is undoubtedly an institution, but be sure you know what to expect if you go there. Fine dining it is not! The choice is very limited - really only two soups as starters. Most people will have the huge schnitzel (if you're not going to have it, why would you be here in the first place?), so a similar... more

Figlmueller has been in business for over 100 years. I hate to admit it, but I've been eating there for half that time. While traditionally, Wiener Schnitzel has been made with veal, limited availability and cost necessitate that pork be substituted. I have not lived in Vienna since 1962, but I go back almost every year to visit and having... more

There are much better places to go in Vienna although this place always seems to attract loads of tourists and command a queue every lunch time! Staff not very friendly as is customary in Vienna. Schintzel big but overpriced and overrated. They don't even serve you beer to go with it Would recommend going to Salm Bräu anyday over Figlmüller more
