Kushimbo is absolutely the most Japanese Japanese restaurant I have found outside Japan. What an athmosphere! Seats for about 6-8 persons indoors, 4-8 outside, printed menu all over the walls, fridge with drinks by the door... this little restaurant is as close to japan as you can get in vienna. run by a charming japanese familiy that serves a range of mouthwatering japanese delicacies. once a week i go there to enjoy a nabeyaki udon, which is undoubtedly the best in town. more

The Kuishimbo doesn't serve sushi, but it serves what my Japanese friends call "Japanese home cooking". Delicious Oyakodon, Miso soup, Horenso (spinach) salad, kabocha (pumpkin) or korokke (croquettes) and Okonomiyaki (sometimes credited as "Japanese pizza") - it's always hard to decide on what to have. The owners are a couple from Kyoto and very friendly. Sometimes their son helps out.... more
