Great food at this very small restaurant in the 7th district. Booking essential, they literally have 6 or 7 tables. Warm welcome, great wine list, always inventive but harmonious menu. Makes Michelin-starred places seem stuffy and overwrought. Don't think any other restaurant in Vienna comes close at the moment. more

Four of us visited Gaumenspiel a few weeks ago on our first visit to Vienna. We all loved it. The food was wonderful (except the dessert; don't bother) and the service was great; the staff is really enthusiastic about their food and wine offerings. Very small place, so get a reservation. more

For me it's one of the top 5 restaurants in vienna. And it is a real insider tip but anyway a reservation is advisable. The prices are very moderate compared to the high quality of food. They often change the menu so there's always something new to find. The food is austrian style spiced up with other cuisines. more
