If you like belgian beer and mussels this is THE place to go! more
Pretty bland, nothing special. Certainly no wow factor. Staff friendly and helpful, but the food just run of the mill. Dissapointing. more
This was the second time we had visited the Belgian Cafe and on the whole the meal was ok. However, this place specialises in mussels, and it is simply not acceptable not to scrub them properly before boiling. Barnacles are very off putting and they also detatch themselves and leave a gritty residue in the sauce. This is a basic... more
The restaurant sells itself as a seafood restaurant which is OK if you like Mussells or scampi, but I struggled to find much more on the menu that origniated from the sea. We visited because one of our party is a fan of Mussells and had heard the restaurant was good for it's 50 ways to eat mussells. I ordered... more
I lived in Brussels for 5 years and this place feels really authentic. Great range of beers, though the Lindemans kriek (cherry beer) was too sweet - I prefer Mort Subite. Food beautifully presented and well cooked. I had scallops to start then "moules et frites", which were excellent. Couldn't manage a dessert, and the choice was rather limited (hence... more
LARGE portions of good food to be washed down with a HUGE range of Belgian beers (make sure to check the strength if you're driving - low alcohol they ain't! - some run to 13%!!) Reasonable prices, friendly if somewhat slow service. Can't comment on the 50 ways to eat mussels (as I'm allergic to them unfortunately) Well worth a... more

I ordered the Thai Green Mussels - nowhere near any Thai flavours. It was awful. I know my Asian flavours very well and throwing in a load of... more
ordered the lamb shank which was obviously just stuck in a microwave to reheat then dumped on lukewarm mashed potato with a weird salad mixture of shredded lettuce which were stale. the gravy was also lukewarm. did not feel good or well after eating even the very small amount i could manage. we ordered 2 chocolate mousses. my dining companion... more
I had food poisoning and was sick for a week after I ate at the Belgian Cafe! I can therefore NOT recommend this place. Go to the Thai place down the road instead! more
Readers please note that this restaurant is now called the Belgian Cafe, as it has ceased to be affiliated with Cafe Belge restaurants. For the same reason, it doesn't appear on the Cafe Belge website. What can I say? This restaurant offers 50 ways to eat your mussels (make up your own song lyrics). The overall quality of the meal... more
