The food could not have been better. Perfectly cooked rare beef, with a good variety of tasty veg, and perfect roasties, sandwiched between an exceptional pate starter, and a divine panacotta to finish. Add in the great ambience of a local pub/restaurant and friendly and...attentive staff and our visit could not have been better.More

We had a delightful sojourn! The room was very comfortable, the setting quite charming. Breakfast was sumptuous - the coffee machine delivered a delicious mocha. Dinner last night was also a treat. The venison was perfect. The staff were welcoming and friendly.

One night stay on a longer journey. The pub was recommended by our daughter who raved about it when they stayed on their way to watch Leicester Tigers. Everyone including the lively locals were extremely friendly. We had a little village walk in the evening...gloom and returned to a roaring wood burner. Lovely!! Our room (Stag) was clean, well presented, had a double aspect view plus everything that was needed. Evening meal was , as predicted, absolutely first class Staters of prawns plus a seafood thermidor. Both excellent, the thermidor, particularly so! Both mains were very locally sourced venison. Superbly cooked and top drawer. Fantastic! Overall, an excellent value room including many variations of cooked to order breakfast. Couldn’t fault it. Thank you!!More

We stopped here on a Sunday lunchtime to interrupt a lovely local walk. We ordered from the bar menu and sat outside (lovely day and lovely village view). The food was excellent and service faultless. Highly recommended.

We booked dinner with friends online over 3 weeks ago. Today, with just over 1 week to go, we received a call to cancel our booking. They now have a private function which is obviously more lucrative for them. There was barely and apology. Really...outrageous and disrespectful behaviour. We will never visit again.More

What a lovely place to stay! Firstly, the countryside that surrounds the B&B is absolutely beautiful. Our room was clean and very comfortable. The breakfast was always served piping hot. The locals are friendly - special shoutout to the gentleman who loaded up the log...burner when it poured with rain all day. Lastly, much appreciation goes to Sharon and Helen, who ensure you are comfortable and look after you. They said it was a fun place to work, and it is a most delightful place to stay. A rare find these days!More

We have been before and enjoyed. This time we were concerned as they had a private function and we were in a little bar area. We shoulnt have worried as we were able to have a great family meal. The staff were lovely and very attentive...and one of the staff(sorry cant remember her name ) paid special attention to our 8 year old grand daughter suggesting extra cheese for her pasta. The food was excellant as were the staff especially as they were very busy.More

We booked this pub for an overnight stay following a family party in Barrowden. The pub is pretty small with a restaurant side and a pub side. All the staff were really friendly (as were the locals!). The food was really tasty!!! We definitely would...return for another meal The room was quite small and the bed was a bit short for hubby (he’s 6’2) but I found it super comfortable and slept well. They pack in a bathroom into the space which worked fine for me (hubby found the loo space a bit small). The pub downstairs wasn’t particularly noisy when we went to bed. Breakfast was great. Definitely would recommend as an alternative to the hotels in the area that are mostly over £200….. this place has a special charm that makes a stay enjoyable.More

We stayed here with friends for 2 nights. The pub was busy with a great atmosphere. Fantastic b&b, our room was lovely, as were the ones our friends stayed in. We ate dinner here on both evenings and it was lovely. Breakfast was good too....We had a great experience and would recommend it to anyone. Great location to visit Rutland water and nearby towns.More
