Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This was the first time we had eaten here since it had been taken over. Frankly it was disappointing. It had always been one of our go to places for a meal out - no longer we will not be returning. The food was barely...acceptable - the pies had been bought in and just reheated, the pastry was like eating concrete!!More

I have eaten here on multiple occasions and have always enjoyed every choice on the menu. Staff are always friendly and willing to go over the top for any requirements. They have a wide selection of drinks to choose from as well as bar snacks....I have never had any problems with the food as it has always been top notch. The location is picturesque and the pub decor is cosy. Perfect for the winter months! Cannot recommend this place enough!!More

Had a superb meal at the Windmill last night. There was a big group of 33 of us out for a Christmas celebration. The food was really good, the service was excellent and the surroundings were nice and Christmassy.

We were served by Alyssa who was great. The main course salad was delicious but the size of a starter, much smaller than expected. Alyssa handled it well by agreeing and offering another item and giving us a discount as well. The venue and location...is lovely, as are all of this chain’s pubs.More

Lovely, welcoming place in an exceptionally pretty village. The decor is very smart and cosy with a very relaxing feel. Just a really nice place to spend a couple of hours. Service was excellent and the food was much enjoyed; the pulled pork went down...particularly well. Well kept local beer. We will return!More

The food was poor, it was quiet and a sad place to be compared with previous experiences there. Sort out the kitchen staffing, please. Very disappointing!

Was looking for somewhere to have Sunday lunch whilst in the area near to Ragdale Hall Spa . We booked the Windmill and we weren’t disappointed. The weather was glorious so we sat outside in the pretty areas. The indoor bar has a lovely charm...to it. Staff were very attentive and friendly and we had good service. Lunch was great but big portions which my sister didn’t mind :) . We will definitely go back when we are next in the area.More

Been here a few times now over the last couple of years for a lunch get together. Has been good in the past but food now seems very expensive for not a lot. I had the Prawn sandwich I normally have a steak sandwich but...on this accession they had apparently had a problem with the steak delivery. Disappointing is all I can say it was literally 2 slices of bread with a few prawns in between. I paid £2 extra to have a few chips with it and I mean a few chips. Not as good a value as it used to be and the food doesn’t seem up to past standards.More

Hello; we came today as we live local and haven’t been before. I want you to take this as constructive feedback; I always aim to give both positive and negative feedback when I can. We both had the soup and straight away said how bitter...it was and I even pointed out that to the waitress. In fact some 6 hours later it’s still there as a bitter aftertaste. We both had the beef and my wife who normally has her beef rare said your beef was blue; I struggled with it! I found the vegetables limited and if you did not like a certain vegetable then the fact that they were mixed was a challenge. Finally the service was average; I ordered wine with our dinner and had to remind the waitress 3 times that we were waiting for our wine. Not a very positive experience; I welcome your response. Table booking in the name of ***** Thank youMore

The food was very nice but more expensive than anywhere else where we have been recently. Had a Sunday roast. Tasty but not very hot. Quick service and friendly staff. Had a brownie for desserts and it was very small and less than half the...size Of the sticky toffee puddings. The Eton mess was tiny too.More

This is a beautifully restored pub. The staff are friendly and the service great. The food was well priced and had generous portions. There was a good range of desserts too at reasonable prices. Parking is plentiful for mainly on the quiet road outside.

I was a walk in for 2 Sunday dinner today and service and food was just fantastic. You recognised I was in a rush to squeeze Sunday lunch in time to get my son to work and within 30 mins we had enjoyed an amazing...Sunday dinner (we both had beef) and were looked after by 3 different members of the team and all were attentive and made our quick sunday dinner happen. I will certainly return and next time I will make an afternoon of it x in short (food 5 star) and staff even better than that. Thankyou so much…More
