We looked forward to visiting the establishment as we had not been to Wigan in a long time. Our last visit had been when it was still managed by Colin & Maria and was excellent. We visited at lunchtime on this occasion. On arrival the eating area was empty and no staff on site. The new owner had been attending... More

First things first, I'm not a vegetarian so I went to the coven slightly nervous about finding something on the menu that I would like. Sue the owner made us feel very welcome and she explained the food on offer very well. We had the mezze and the coven stack, both were excellent. We took our own drinks and there... More

The home-made 'green soup' with hummus- and- salad filled pitta was delicious, followed by completely yummy chocolate cake. The Coven is a heavenly corner of hospitality: friendly, warm and convivial at any time of the day or evening. It feels like you've come to a friend's for home-cooked delights. The owner, Sue goes to great lengths to provide great food... More

I visited the coven for a special occasion on a Friday night and was not disappointed. There was a large group of us and the owner was very accommodating to all our menu choices and it was very well organised. None of our group were vegetarian and I could see there were a few dubious of the raw food but... More

After friends had spoken very highly of this local restaurant my hubby and I decided to pay a visit. I rang to reserve a table for lunch, appreciating that it is very small seating-wise. I rang twice as they hadn't taken my name and was told I was the only one so a name didn't matter??? When we arrived there... More

Been here a few times now, first time was a visit with my vegetarian sister. The mushroom burgers are better than 90% of any meat versions I have had, Welsh rarebit was really nice and home made chips. Massive choice of teas and coffees and everything is made fresh. This come at a slightly higher cost than a standard chain... More

Visited with a friend for early tea. We had mixed mezze for starters. I had falafel in bagel and finished off with choc goo cake and ice cream. Delicious and very reasonable prices. Lovely chatting to the owner who pulls out the stops for customer satisfaction. Will recommend to all veggies and those on special diets.

A friend took us here for lunch last thursday (march 15th) and despite his praise for the place my own previous experience of "veggie" places hadn't been great.I needn't have worried as the Mediterranean Lasagne that I chose was really tasty, as was the muffin with soya custard which followed. Sue was friendly and helpful when explaining some of the... More

Wenet there as a family and had a really special evening. Warm welcome, lovely atmosphere - friendly but not intrusive and great food. Sometime vegetarian food can be a bit stodgy but this wasn't. It was really tasty and interesting, particularly loved the raw courgette crackers which I've never sen before.

As a meat eater I approached my recent visit to the raw/vegan evening with some trepidation. I needn't have worried - we had a brilliant evening of flavours and textures. Sue is a marvellous chef/host and the ambience is very friendly and warm. I will definitely be returning and would recommend highly to both vegetarians and carnivores!
