My partner and I don't know that many places in Chesterfield town centre to eat, and we'd already been to The Burlington but it was busy due to the football being on.
We walked in and it was fairly empty, sitting in the downstairs area...where there was only a young couple with a baby eating. There were no menus on the tables and it didn't appear to the cleanest of places. I didn't expect that much with the food hygiene rating being a four but I've seen worse.
After seeing the Steak Sandwich that the other couple had ordered, my partner ordered that because it smelt and looked nice. I ordered a cheese and tomato panini, with there being an extra £1 charge for an additional filling (tomato) making it cost £5.95.
Despite it being empty, we still waited around 15 minutes for our food to be prepared but it wasn't that bad. Both meals came with what looked like their own handmade chips with skin on, and they were huge. I couldn't even finish my meal off because I was full, so I can't really complain of the price when it did it's job of filling me up.
We both reckon this place would be a lovely, with all the lighting coming through from the conservatory part as you walk in and the shape of the building but it's just lacking a little TLC. The place smelt a bit an old smoking pub, the wallpaper was missing bits and had rips in and the seating area at the bottom was a bit discoloured and creaky. If they refurbished the place, it would be a lovely little place to eat 🍅🧀More
