We've just had a great meal at the Druid Inn where the food was really good and the service was efficient and friendly. It was great to find a pub which catered well to children too - something which seems to be getting rarer these days. I would heartily recommend it and judging by previous comments, can only assume that... more

Four of us have visited the Druid twice in the last month, both times at Saturday lunchtime. The first time, while walking, we had probably the best fish & chips ever – and I’ve had a lot! We returned yesterday, without the hiking boots, to dine from their fixed price December menu and the food was phenomenal and good value... more

Second time of visiting the Druid Inn at Birchover, just outside Matlock, and we called for lunch again on our anniversary - a thursday lunchtime. Our (self & wife) first visit a few months ago resulted in the nicest fish & chips I have ever eaten, and this time was no exception. We both had Fish, Chips, Mushy peas, Tartare... more

Wow, can't believe reviews on this site, because I had dinner there 3 weeks ago and the food and service were great. Maybe they've been to Trip Advisor and decided to clean up their act! I was a pain in the neck customer, changing tables three times because I was alone and looking for a place with good lighting so... more

Expected more from this pub although food average thought it would be better given reputation. Found the decor to be boring and lacked character and atmosphere - please put in a womans touch! Service was poor and waitress kept apologising. Would give it another try and would order something different next time. more

We went the week after New Year, a shooting party had just left, and we had the place to ourselves for lunch. We've been before with mixed feelings every time - we've had some excellent roast dinner sharing platters where you get the side of a cow to share between two and loads of Yorkies through to some God awful... more

Went to the Druid Inn last night for dinner with my wife. Food was available on the "a la carte" or the set menu. We weren't fussed which menu we ate off but chose the set menu as there were options there that we both fancied and it seemed pretty good value. Service was friendly but very slow. Starters (Caesar... more

I recently revisited the Druid Inn after a gap of at least 10 years and what a shock. In my mind I remembered an ancient rambling Inn full of character, history and with a soul. A place I'd always dreamed of returning too and to try the menu because even then the menu looked appealing. What I found was an... more

I first went to the Druid's Inn many years ago and remember enjoyign the food very much. Today I took my wife back for her birthday. First, I will say that she enjoyed the day. The location of the Druid's Inn give it a huge advantage and the chef is talented. My overwhelming memory of the day though will be... more

My husband & I dined at the Druid over a Bank Holiday weekend and the place was obviously busy. I truly can't fault the food - the chef is clearly very talented. However the service lets down the whole experience. We had to order our drinks three times and the wine finally arrived as we were finishing the main course.... more
