We visited this pub after reading excellent reviews but to be honest we were not that impressed my husband and I both ordered fish, when they arrived my portion of fish was very small lots of chips but hardly any fish was still hungry when I left as not a big chip fan.. The candles on the tables are very... More

Really fabulous crab and avocado salad, following a disappointing crab sandwich the day before somewhere else. My partner had the scallops in garlic with warm crusty bread which he said were fantastic. He also said they served the best pint of Tribute he had had in the past 9 years since we moved to Cornwall. Friendly staff and excellent cook.... More

Took wife and mother-in-law for a drive and lunch. The pub looks rough and ready but the food is plentiful and well cooked, in fact excellent. I had haddock it looked fresh, tasted wonderful. Will call again, the fish menu looks good. Do not be put off by the outside appearances.

On the recommendation of local friends we all had a big plate of fresh scallops - and when I say fresh - wow! with exquisite taste and texture. These were the best scallops I have ever tasted - ever. Really friendly barman/chef and great to sit out the front in the sunshine. Meal washed down with St Austell Brewery Tribute... More

The Rod & Line is a rare genuine pub. Although visiting on my own I received a warm welcome, enjoyed superb food and ale and then stayed for live music from an excellent duo. The pub is popular, small and full of atmosphere, so be prepared to be sat at a table with people standing all around - if you're... More

I am amazed about the hospitality of Mike and his team.... A huge THANK YOU to all of them for making a wonderful night happen and to raise funds for Rowcroft Hospice and my cause Trekking The China Wall. The Pizza offered free for all of us after the quiz night, was incredible!! This is one of the good old... More

What a great place. A real find, friendly, packed to the rafters with locals and visitors. Not many tables inside so standing room only for most but book if you can as the food is fantastic. Quirky place full of stuff with a dog on the roof by the entrance, yes really! We started with scallops and squid. Really serious... More

A rare find. A proper pub still with the most fantastic & friendly atmosphere and ambience which is so lacking these days in England as our traditional pubs are converted into plastic pubs. Excellent pint of tribute. Really great seafood, fish, scallops and crab from excellent local supplier. And excellent value for money too. Probably not the place to go... More

In my humble opinion, there aren't many hostelries left in the Westcountry that could be described as the 'real deal'. This one is ....... IF you like your pubs clinically clean, tidy, quiet, polished and serving formulaic 'pub grub' - pass on by. IF you like your pubs to feel 'lived in', welcoming, and serving GREAT food then this is... More

How I wish my own village had a pub like this.In the currant melancholy era of greedy pub-co's turning quaint local inns into ugly, soulless food-halls it brings joy to your heart to see that at least one traditional village pub still lives and thrives.Characterful and eccentric, with its blazing log fire and low beams I always instantly relax when...
