The missus and myself decided to go for a valentines meal and thoroughly enjoyed it.The atmosphere was great and dim lights and candles made it very romantic. The menu was varied and we thoroughly enjoyed our choices. All in all it has everything; location, good food, great service. Many thanks. More

We fell upon this wonderful place on our way home one evening, we were made to feel welcome as soon as we walked in the front door. They had a good selection of beers, the bar person offered me a small sample which helped me decide. The bar person (Kate) had good knowledge of the beer and the menu; and... More

Lovely riverside pub on the way to the horse race course from the city centre. Good food at reasonable prices and a good selection of beers. Sit outside in the summer and pick all the winners in a great location. More

I have, over the last few months, visited the Water Rat and other pub/restaurants in the area and found the Water Rat to be the local of locals. Not only does it have a Snug with a log/coal fire but also an atmosphere built around tradition and a group of locals that fill the air with laughter and conversation to... More

We live just over the river and we visit regularly. Consistantly good service from young staff (Rick likes to throw them in at the deep end!). You can be assured that you will receive a great welcome and a great meal, no matter what your expectations are. Great regulars to make the experience even better, especially Dee!!! More

August 18th, and lunchtime, short of staff ,tables left with used items on them made it difficult to find a clean one. I am sorry to have to say that the food we ordered took nearly an hour to arrive and was only for two people with two courses. Scallops were covered in a very greasy sauce .The lamb chops however...
