Some of the best service that we had on the South Island. Friendly staff in a clean, roomy atmosphere. Most of the items that we tried we very good, but a couple were only average and none extraordinary (except for the terrific coconut raspberry cake). Good wine selection at a very fair price. more

I've been to Plato quite a bit. Have had some quite good, although unremarkable, food, and some really quite bad food (eg some of their fish dishes are very stodgy). The service can be extraordinarily slow on a bad night, but quite OK on a good night. There are nicer restaurants in Dunedin, I think, but if you go there... more
