My most favourite restaurant in Tartu! Always tasty, stylish, traditional and really friendly and beautiful place! It’s a must!

Quite freezing (we were at the end of October) and portions could be a bit larger. Authentic interior and live music (+10euros per person).
Lovely place with muffled light. I were here on Sunday evening and I hadn’t wait to sit. The schnitzel with potatoes, creamy salmon soup were delicious. And the local craft beer that was recommended by the waiter was great. I’ve attended this place twice recently...and both time it was greatMore
Weeks before pre-ordered 2 different menu for a group. Waited 1 hour until anyone came, we were not allowed to order drinks from the bar as having a table reservation. Food and drinks must be paid beforehand-that cause a "pit" of a confusion ( how...do I know how many drinks and what they costs?) Then allowed to order from bar. Food was a big disappointment, dessert/coffee service disaster. Not the fault of the waiters but of the organization. Nice place to go and look, just not for several persons and eat.More
Bad service, the staff doesn't speak English well, long waiting time. The bread was old, there was mold on it. Do not recommend.
A very unique, kinda cool location (who doesn’t want to eat in a former gunpowder cellar?) with history; but the food was just OK. Perhaps just stop in for a drink to enjoy the atmosphere.
This is an amazing building, with real atmosphere and sense of times gone by. The conversion into a bar/restaurant has been very well done indeed. Service was prompt and friendly and our food was very good - my husband had the corn chick which was...very tasty but not that big a portion, whilst I had the Estonian mashed potato in a bread bowl, which was certainly filling but a bit monotonous to eat to be honest. Prices are very reasonable for the setting!More
Food was excellent and relatively cheap. The staff were friendly and the service was fast. I had the beef cheek with 1l of beer, a great combination. The high ceiling was also impressive.
Terrible service. The waiters had a complete lack of courtesy. Large pieces of raw onion were sloshing around in the food. Very unpleasant experience, not recommended.
Hugely atmospheric setting with live entertainment great food and beer. Soups are particularly good - one of us had a great fish soup in a bread bowl and we also had a delicious onion soup. However, if there is a live band (they were great)...it will be loud!More
We had to wait our food over an hour and finally when they gave us our food it was cold. Then we had to wait again warm food. Veggie burger was terrible and the service from the waiters too. Zero points, never again.
Food was great, ribs and burger. 1l beers available. Nice atmosphere but little noisy because of bar at the downstairs. Waiting times was too lomg. It took 1h 20minutes before we got our foods. Place was only halfly full. Need to have more staff and...everything is fine. 🙂More
Next old medieval tavern really nice food and prices place is beautiful and the ambiance is good if you are going at night make reservation
Really great estonian food and Bear. We really like an estonian bread with puree inside. Almost The only place in Tartu where you can eat rehional food.
Very nice dog friendly place. Pub has GUINESS record as highest pub in the world. Historical atmosphere, very friendly staff, nice food. I little longer waiting time.
