I'm a seafood purist, always looking for the freshest choices without a lot of other ingredients hiding the seafood. The City Pier has great grouper and their gumbo is wonderful. Service was friendly and quick. I was there in July and their were many international visitors. The staff was very patient as guests struggled with English. more

I will never return to that restaurant again and neither will friends and family of mine and whoever they tell as well. That place is disgusting and the manager should be fired. We went just last week end and to have a lady wait on us who could not keep her eyes open. she had to have been drinking or... more

The pier was amazing to sit and watch the fishermen, whilst having a beer. We saw dolphins and saw a very large Tarpon caught. A very nice atmosphere, with very friendly people. One night we ate on the pier - service was good, but the food was very basic. The surroundings not too great when eating. Would return to the... more

The "25 shrimp cooked your way, grilled, blackened, or fried" for $9.00 was the best fried shrimp I had all week. The popcorn shrimp basked was also generous and very good also. We wished we had found this place earlier in the week, very much worth a repeat visit. Great place to watch people fish and boats come and go.... more

We loved this restaurant ! Very quaint with paper towels hanging overhead. We ordered the crab leg feast in the pot and it was delicious. Watch people fish while you eat and there are many dolphin sitings here. You are right off the dock in the bay. Old fashioned fun, great food and lots of fish stories. Great service too! more

I am a local, and have been to the city pier several times. I got a good meal there once, about five years ago. Years ago, it was 'The Anna Maria Oyster Bar' and was great. This restaurant has relocated to Cortez Rd in Bradenton, and at a second location on rt 41 in Bradenton. Go to the pier for... more

This restaurant was suggested by a "local" at a beach after we mentioned to her we were visiting from WI. The restaurant was great from the moment we got out of our car and started walking down the pier (I'm a photo buff and love to snap pictures). The pier was great to be on while waiting for our table..... more

After driving from Michigan for two days, we were happy to get on the island on Saturday, April 4th. Regular visitors to the island, I was happy when my mom chose the City Pier as our first Island dinner. We got there around 6pm and we expected to wait awhile for a table considering we figure half of Michigan was... more

I'm a native Floridian and for years have driven an hour to The Pier (restaurant) for grouper sandwiches. I'm sorry to say that I had my last one today. Tiny piece of fish (grouper?) dried out with little flavor; tartar sauce sweet and runny; gumbo was inedible. The fishing pier is still a great place to people watch. So...grab an... more
