On our last night, we tried what used to be a real reliable restaurant. Cats were roaming inside and out even though they tried to keep them outside. My husband had the oysters which he said were very good and a crabcake appetizer which was just okay. I had the fried shrimp which were overcooked. I even told them, "Don't... more

We had heard good things about Boss, but were a tad concerned with some reviews here at Trip Advisor that said you don't get what you pay for. Boy, do I wish we had heeded that advice. We are used to paying fairly high prices for good food in Atlanta, but NOT for so much obvious cutting corners. We ordered... more

We went to Boss Oyster as it was getting late. The overall impression is a very casual eatery. My partner wasn't too keen to put her handbag on the floor because it looked grubby but the food was ok. There must be better places to eat in Apalachicola but since we were there one night only we got no chance... more

Went here on the advice of a local and had the shrimp and tasso in a creamy sauce over cheddar cheese grits. The shrimp were huge and there was so much food I couldn't eat it all. It was served with the most wonderful warm rolls. I loved it. Nice view of the river out on the covered deck. This... more

We spent 3 days in Apalachicola and ate here, The Owl Cafe(far and away #1) and Caroline's (2). We rated Boss's #3 of the 3. The atmosphere is laid back and you can eat inside or out, overlooking the Apalachicola River, which is nice. They advertise oysters 27 ways and they serve 1/2 dozen ($9.95) or a dozen ($18.95). They... more

Mostly outdoor seating, many with beach seats. Oyster shuckers on site, so you know the food is fresh. Wait staff prompt and informative. Unbelievable oyster selection, probably 50 options. Only complaint was price, paid more for comparable meal than at 2 local restaurants which are much less casual. Better choices nearby for sit down and casual dining. more

We visit Apalachicola once a year. Boss Oyster is simply the best. I could eat there 24/7/365. I just wished they shipped their fish dip. more

We vacation in Appilatchicola or the surrounding area every May and can not wait to get to Boss Oyster once we arrive. Normally eat here SEVERAL times during our stay! The food and the view is just great! So relaxing and quiet! Love their desserts, too:) more

Service was unfriendly and inefficient. I did not see one smile from the whole crew. Table wasn't very clean. Food was mediocre. I don't understand how a restaurant like this can survive in this economy. I am on a 2-week vacation at St. George Island with plenty of time and money, but won't be spending either at this establishment for... more

But the best Oysters ever. Apalach Oysters are the Best and Boss knows how to treat them. Oyster Stew was creamy, rich and loaded with Oysters. The fried Oysters are generous, tasty and not battered to death. The steamed and various baked Oysters were all wonderful as well. You can sit outside in an old wooden lawn chair and wait... more
