If you're looking for somewhere to go on a first night in Thailand for food, this place is pretty good. Two of us ate here on a weeknight (it was relatively full of western tourists), three courses, appertiser, soup and main course with four drinks for 1700 Bht, which is about £30ish. We were very impressed with Ban Chiang. The food was first rate and the setting in a converted wooden house was very atmospheric. We found it a great place to have our first meal in Bangkok - not too hectic, thai food with a well designed English menu, etc. We will definitely return. more

This used to be a wonderful restaurant that I used to rave about to friends. On the last two occasions I have found the food poor and the atmosphere to be sadly lacking. Will not go back and that's over a decade I have been a regular visitor. more

This was one of the best meals we had in our two week stay in Thailand. It is tucked away on a side street, and is not easy to find, but our hotel concierge wrote the address in Thai for us, and the doormen expalined to the taxi driver where we wanted to go. We went to this restuarant on the strength of the reviews on Trip Advisor and I am very pleased we did. The staff were very polite and helpful and the food was fantastic. We had two meals here and for three of us including drinks the price totalled around 3,000bhats ( about £60) which we felt was very good value.... more
