Grab a pillow-lined bench in the back of the restaurant and settle in for a cozy meal of serious comfort food. It's not the cheapest place in Hanoi, and service is decidedly distant, but the varied menu of western and Asian inspired dishes is a welcome break from street noodles and rice. Everyone in our family (vegetarian mom, adventurous dad,... more

Don't be turned off if you are a meatosaurus like me the food here is for everyone. This cafe is opened very early until late perfect for those journeying from or to Sapa on the overnight train services. It offers a perfect vantage point for people watching at the front of the restaurant and air conditioned retreat at the rear.... more

They had amazing food, some of the best we had in Hanoi, and maybe even Veitnam! they have a great range of vegetarian food as well and fantastic smoothies. They also have a massage clinic upstairs which is very good. more

It's not so easy to find a place to eat in Hanoi if you're not a vegetarian. Some restaurants have vegetarian dishes, but a vegetarian could maybe feel unconfortable next to a plate of jumbo ribs. Anyway, I've been several time to the place (invited by friends) and I still don't understand why people like it. The food is not... more

The Tamarind Cafe was directly across the street from our hotel. Being jet-lagged and it being so close, we decided to eat there. Upon walking in, we noticed that a tour operator's desk inside. Seemed odd, but we walked past and were seated quickly at a wobbly table. The waitress apparently didn't speak much English, so there was no small... more

There were so many things to choose from. Their fruit smoothies were exceptional, especially the Protenic shake. I did find the prices a bit higher than the average and the service a touch slow but the food more than made up for it. Excellent vegetarian food that would make even the biggest carnivore happy. more

Checked out this cafe after reading the other posts on here. Really good veggie food, good selection and they do a fabulous avocado and banana smoothie which tasted sooo good. It's nice and cool and if you go further in there are raised sofa-platform things to sit on and take your shoes off. Upstairs is a little massage place called... more

This is a real gem, with wifi a lot of travellers were relaxing with their lap top and a fresh juice! We had the best fresh spring rolls here, and were so impressed that we ordered some to go which we snacked on later. Although this restaurant is vegetarian there is lots of choice and we felt more comfortable having... more

We went there for supper, after a terrible dinner (just my personal opinion) at local restaurant. We ordered mango rolls, fruit platter, Vietnamese dripped coffee, sugar cane juice and lime juice. The mango of the mango rolls is very sweet, sugar cane is very sweet too but fruit platter is quite expensive, . Don't miss the Vinetnamese dripped coffee. more

During our stay in Hanoi my friend and I spent several hours at the Tamarind Cafe, enjoying their excellent Vietnamese drip coffee, Bia Hanoi beer, and various food items. This is a great place to park yourself out of the sun between noon and 2 p.m., when it gets very hot. The mango rolls at Tamarind Cafe are excellent. They... more
