This is a very good place to have dinner before or after a visit to the Water Puppet Theatre –- as the theatre is a mere (albeit harrowing) stroll across the main road. The restaurant provides live music. This is traditional Vietnamese music and singing. String instruments and percussion instruments are used -- one of the singers uses porcelain tea-cups.... more

If you like food to taste great and look artistic (worthy of a photograph), then this is the place to be. An extensive menu covering dishes from the whole country. This place is pricey by local standards, but the location and atmosphere are excellent. Seems like a splurge with all those zeros, but the you'd easily spend a lot, lot... more

This restaurant was somewhere I greatly regretted eating at, as did my partner. We were so unhappy that we left immediately after our food was served, paying the bill in full. As our dinner was served, we were discussing making the previous reviewers of this restaurant on TripAdvisor pay us back for this disastrous meal, as we had gone here... more

Delicious food and absolutely superb service. Beautiful view across the lake. A little more pricey than most local restaurants, but worth every penny. Vietnamese band is a nice touch. The manager and his wife entertained our baby all evening so that we could enjoy our meal. Can't ask for more than that! more

If you are some extras to spend - this is a great restaurant - good atmosphere, yummy Vietnamese food, wonderful ambience (nicely decorated & by Hoan Kiem Lake), and entertained with a traditional Vietnamese "band". They serve family menus for dinner: a set of Vietnamese cuisine with soup, appertizer, salad, main course (4 dishes of meat course and vege) and... more

Whilst this restaurant may be touted as a little on the touristy side, I found the atmosphere, location, food and traditional music to be highly enjoyable. The interior of the restaurant is decorated in a lavish traditional style which, whilst slightly tacky, conveys the right rind of atmosphere - an atmosphere which is augmented by an enjoyable traditional music performance.... more

We visited the restaurant for dinner after reading the tips at this website. Yes, we were impressed with the ambience and the excellent service provided by the well groomed staff. As a tourist, we have problem in choosing the right dish and had to be adventurous. It would be good if the staff can communicate a little better in English.... more

This restaurant was recommended by the hotel to me after my slightly disappointed visit to Club d'Oriental. I wanted nice atmosphere, really good vietnamese food and traditional vietnamese live music. Dinh Lang Thuy Ta gave me all these plus a superb view of Hoan Kiem Lake at night. The restaurant is on the second floor, a bit exclusive away from... more

2/1/09 mr.lowy@comcast.net Portland, Oregon Am a committed foodie who lives to eat & loves to cook, with a long time love affair with Vietnamese cooking(since the late 60's, when possibly the first V.N. restaurant opened in San Francisco where we were then living, complete with smuggled-in rice paper wrappers---love at first bite!). My husband humored me as I came armed... more

This was recommended us to Vietnamese shop assistants as one of the finest and poshest restaurants in Hanoi. The atmosphere at the restaurant is a little stilted -- as though trying too hard to feel exclusive for the tourists' sake. But the service is fast and friendly and the views of Kiem Lake are gorgeous, even on a rainy night.... more
