We ate here once. It was right in front of our hotel, so very convenient for the first evening after a long day of travelling. The atmosphere was great to get us in the holiday mood, although music was a bit loud and western for my tatse. The view is great and service and food were fine. We even scored... more

We went here a few times for pre-dinner drinks because of the views of sunset over nile and it was very pleasant Then realised that one waiter was claiming that we had to pay LE40 sales tax - we challenged this and in the end paid it and walked away but did not and will not go back more

We visited this restaurant a few times during our visit to Luxor (just returned Weds.). This was one of the few restaurants close to our hotel (The Mercure) and it also served wine which was a bonus to us.... although quite expensive at 120 EP for red Obelisk. It has the potential, as I have seen other reviewers comment, of... more

Wish I had read the reviews before we tried this then I would have been saved the trip. The service was extremely slow (and the food was brought from somewhere down the street on heated plates !!), about 45 mins for a chicken sandwich and a fattyah. I was craving for chocolate and chanced the chocolate brownie with chocolate sauce... more

I would rather starve than eat in this so called restaurant, don't be fooled by the Egyptian owner speaking charming English. The food was less than poor and the portions ridiculously small. My wife tried the pasta and it was terrible! I had the beef steak and was the worst i has experienced in the world. Look arround for better... more

I must have different standards on views to some other people. The restaurant is on the Nile, I think. We were first positioned under the exhaust of a cruise ship, which were 8 deep along the entire frontage. We made our escape to an inside table. The evening went down hill from there. If you like everything deep fried you’re... more

The pros: -lovely view of feluccas -real sewed tent fabric keeping the sun off -very western menu, for your stressed kid or your homesick self -on the whole, a pleasant-looking restaurant -very convenient after a sunset walk along the corniche The cons: -the food quality is uneven: some dishes are good, some are bad, some are both on successive visits... more

When visiting in May we were staying at the Pavilion of the Winter Palace, so we ate here for lunch on most days, really for the convenience of the place as it’s just across the road and not too far too walk when it’s really hot. The owners of the Kababgy also own the Metropolitan and the bowling club all... more

We had spent many an evening in the el Kebabgy on visits a few years ago, watching feluccas and cruise ships go to & fro. It has now grown and is covered in, having lost, in our opinion, some of it's charm, with large noisy fans to keep everyone cool In May, when we were in Luxor, we were walking... more
