We hunted this out after reading reviews and we are so glad we did. It is truely egyptian with beautiful funiture and very helpful staff. The food was fantastic and very well priced. We were sorry we found this so late in our holiday or we would have been back rather than visit some of the other places we did... more

This restaurant was recommended to us and we booked a table for two for Sunday night. The restaurant perfect for couples or families that have different tastes or those wish to experiment. The food was absolutely delicious, try mix grill (Mashwiaat Sofra) and for dessert try rice pudding (Roz bil Haleeb) with fantastic fresh mint tea. We were so impressed... more

We read about Sofra and decided to give it a go. How glad we were. This restaurant has great food and great service - the waiters are lovely and friendly. I can only assume that those who found them unfriendly must have had faces like smacked backsides themselves! Honestly, these guys were the friendliest and funny guys around! I guess... more

If you want tasty Egyptian fare this is worth a visit. Went there for an evening meal with my wife while we were on an 11 day trip around Egypt. The decor is wonderfully traditional. Service was friendly and the chief waiter took the time to explain the menu to us. Food came quickly and was really tasty. Very good... more

This is a good place to eat if you are not on half board at one of the international hotels. It is quite central and the food is good, with plenty of meat and vegetarian choices. It was recommended as being one of the "safe" places to eat (for stomach upsets) and this was true in our case, even though... more

We stumbled on Sofra while trying to escape an aggressive carriage driver. We remembered it from our book and so went in. The experience was great. The ambiance is very Egyptian, and the people were extremely kind and accommodating. Above all else, the food was delicious! A must try in Luxor. Also a good place to hang out and smoke... more

We visited Sofra on two occasions and had a table on the Egyptian style open air roof top, its best to book in advance because its popular. The food is Egyptian and the cooking is homely and great. Although there is no alcohol Sofra has a good choice of fruit juices and other softies. The staff were attentive and friendly.... more

On the night we went to this restaurant, a new chef had been employed. Someone on the next table sent a dish back twice, and chef threw a complete hissy fit for all to hear(even though we could not understand what what he was saying, we got the intention!!!). We found the staff to be very friendly, maybe a bit... more

Had one lunch and one dinner there. The menu is pretty extensive, aimed at Egyptian food which was a nice change (just so many Western resteraunts around!). The resteraunt is very well decorated and equipped - i ate in the open air upstairs both times, would not have fancied being in the downsatirs rooms when crowded. Fruit juices are to... more

When we arrived we wern't greeted in a friendly way, we were just told to go upstairs. but we tried not to let that get to us as the setting of the restaurant was nice. we ordered 2 fresh mango juices which were... more
