A mature and neatly decorated courtyard of tables and rooms, arranged around a central, traditional open wood-fired clay oven. Excellent traditional recipe stews served in crockery, made using indiginous potatoes and alpaca. Located off the plaza San Blas courtyard in the hills above town, its worth the effort to treck to and find. The chicha is definitely worth trying. more

Local cuisine is an important aspect of my travels, and Cusco at first glance was a bit difficult town for me in that regard. I loved Cicciolina but not for when I wanted something more Peruvian. Pacha Papa did the job for me. Menu had lots of traditional dishes to choose from, and I had causa to start and lamb... more

We wanted to try this restaurant because we heard it was a great place for local food. Although we couldn't order the pachamanca (minimum of 12 ppl), we started off with a potato soup (excellent) and tamales (average), and then moved onto the alpaca stew (surprisingly tasty, similar to pork imo). The place was very affordable, and had generally a... more

Highly recommended, Pacha was our choice for the big night out in Cusco. They seemed to be out of everything. No chicken, no ceviche, no cuy, no duck. Of the 6 entrees we ordered, only the Lomo Saltado had any flavor. My lamb dish was terribly overcooked, a small portion in a tasteless sauce. Two of our group, who can... more

I guess this place means father earth in Quechuan. On our finally night in Peru we finally had a chance to try some of the more exotic traditional Peruvian cuisine. The famous recreation of the Last Supper painted by Marcos Zapatas which hangs in the Cathedral here in Cusco prominently displays a Cuy in the middle of the table and... more

Pacha Y Papa was just a fantastic dining experience all around. The ambiance was great. The food was unique and well prepared, and the service was outstanding. During my visit there was a local musician playing a peruvian harp-like instument throughout lunch. I had some kind of Peruvian Crawfish soup (see picture) with Cholo corn, and fresh bread right out... more

Although this was definitely better than average, I just can't bring myself to give it four or five stars. Frankly, I thought the food was just alright. I had the adobo de chancha and some appetizer that I can't recall (I guess it was forgettable). They were good, but nothing worth raving about. But the dining area, which is outdoors,... more
