Description: Chef Daniel Castaño of Bogota’s Emilia Romagna restaurant brings his authentic Italian coastal cuisine to VERA, a 50-seat restaurant and lounge set within The Tcherassi Hotel’s historic colonial mansion and interior lush garden. Indoors, the restored, original 250 year old stone wall stretches from the imported Australian floor up to the distinuished wood ceiling and beams made from rescued Colombian Guayacan and Ceiba. Modern mirrors adorn the backlit wall in a unique contrast that reflects the activity throughout the space and brings the outside in with vivid reflections of the lush garden waiting outside. A long white banquette runs along the entirety of the indoor/outdoor space providing guests a front row seat to Cartagena’s best new restaurant. As the mansion’s stone wall extends outwards, dramatic archways provide diners a perfect framwork to sit and enjoy the flowing water features and vertical garden consisting of over 3000 local plants that forms the mansion’s interior gardenChef Castaño indulges guests with dishes such as Risotto Pescatore (Arborio rice, cooked with a compound butter of shallots, roasted garlic, and basil served with clams, mussels, shrimp, and squid) and Pollo al Peppe (brined and seared breast of chicken crusted with black pepper, served with confit thighs, and a date, water cress, and macadamia salad), among other house specialties.
