The food is some of the poorest excuse for BBq ive ever eaten. what is almost as bad is the service. It is the nice adorned BBq place in Alamo. But back to the BBq you know that flavor BBq gets when it been wrapped up cooled to store then reheated. Thats what i get ever time ive eaten there,... more

Billed as the #1 in Alamogordo? Doesn't say much for Alamogordo! Very plain atmosphere. Food took a long time to arrive. 1/2 rack of the toughest ribs I've ever eaten. BBQ sauce was marginal. Hard to believe that the reviewers that posted such glowing reviews went to the same restaurant. My daughter-in-law said it all when she said that she... more

BBQ is not the best in Alamogordo and you don't get your monies worth. I was suckered in by the military owned business statement. This didn't make the food taste any better. more

I really enjoy the location and ambiance; it is a rural, country setting, away from hustle and noise of urban living. Open fields of grazing animals--cute donkeys, playful goats, turkeys, ducks, cattle including a long-horn cow! Sit by a window to take advantage of the great views. All the food I have tried is better than good. I love the... more

I usually plan a stop for lunch at Sunset Run on my way to Cloudcroft. I like to see the animals, especially the miniature donkey; most important, though, is the food . I love the homemade potato chips with a spicy dip. I've tried several items on the menu - of course the BBQ but also the trout - all... more

Although I am not a real BBQ freak, this is a wonderful place to take family and friends off the beaten path. Friendly owner, great farm setting - you can watch a longhorn cow, ducks, goats, donkeys - the owner will even give you some corn to feed them. They have huge deserts - share these or you'll waddle out.... more

Just stopped by the Sunset Run on our way to cool off at the Lodge in Cloudcroft, NM. Had a great meal of fresh green chile stew and moist, yummy cornbread washed down with a cold beer. The restaurant was full by noon and the owner seemed to know everyone. An exciting plus was that tiny, triplet goats had been... more

What a meal and a day we all had! Everyone in our group was so satisfied with Sunset Run, that we plan on making it our regular family outing location! We each ordered something different from the menu, but we all agreed after sharing bites and bits of each others meals, that it was the best in and around town... more

We have lived in Alamogordo for two years and we can safely say there are no good places to eat here. We were so excited to try Sunset Run BBQ.. but our excitement turned to disappointment very quickly. The food is just plain horrible for the price. It was a complete waste of money. The staff was not particularly friendly... more

About the only thing that was good on the menu was the brisket, and that wasnt that good. The atmosphere was a wannabe biker bar style, outside was a small farm with some cows and ducks, at least that kept the kids occupied. The place also had a large sign claiming to be a veteran ran business, however did not... more
