Our favorite spot in Ashland over many years. Consistent, solid performer. First, always great cocktails and ale choices like Shandy, Black and White. We have tried all the pub meals repeatedly, and find they match the best restaurant pubs in Jolly UK. Crispy fish & chips, shepard's pie, welsh rarebit, etc., all done to order, so be patient in some... more

A little on the rustic side and sometimes a little gloomy until it gets dark outside and the house lights can take effect. Other than that, with an authentic pub atmosphere (including three dart boards and a genuine London phone box in the corner) the Black Sheep is a must for winding down after a long day, or for winding... more

Twice a group of friends and I went for a nice evening out. Both times we had check issues. The first time we were overcharged by several 100 dollars! and the next time items were on our check that we had not ordered. Waitress was rude with a way too high opinion of herself and skills (non existant). Took much... more

I have been going to this pub since I have been visiting Ashland for a number of years now. I have always liked the menu and the cooking is the best side of average. The service has really fallen apart. I used to really feel at home there. Each time I go back, the music is up louder and louder.... more

Totally overpriced with apathetic waitstaff, but the atmosphere makes it worth it to return. more

Just last week I went here with some friends and was quickly reminded why I don't go there often. The place was cold, the service was incredibly slow (and it wasn't that busy), and the customer service was terrible. We waited a good ten minutes at a table before anyone acknowledged our presence and then it took forever to get... more

Our party of seven stopped by on a Friday night. They were not very busy, but from when they handed us our menus, to when they took our order, it was about 40 minutes. Halfway through our meal, one of the staff took it upon themselves to turn up the music so that all conversations were basically eliminated. They took... more

If you are looking for jolly olde England pub fare this is NOT the place. The ambiance struggles to be British with dark wood and signage and a cute red phone booth, but that merely hides the dirt. My dish, Welsh Rarebit, was tolerable. The other 3 in my party were sadly disappointed with the food. The fish and chips... more

What a difference a year makes! Every year my husband and I make a pilgrimage to Ashland to take in the wonderful plays. The Black Sheep is one of the few after-theatre spots for grabbing a quick bite or drink. This year was an awful experience, and embarrassing as we had guests with us and we'd told them how wonderful... more
