We're local Ashland residents and we celebrate our special occassions at the Winchester Inn's dining room. The food is superb! The wait staff is friendly, explain the menu items in detail, and go out of their way to insure the diners are enjoying an amazing experience. The chef prepares unique entrees with variety of flavors. The food is delicious and... more

I try to be understanding of a restaurants market, access to ingredients and access to staff talent when I set my expectations but I really wish I had just had a burger at a brewpub. The food was simply average and the price they charge for it above average (which I believe indicates they are willing to be evaluated among... more

We were the only family in the entire restaurant as we had a 8.00 PM reservation and everyone had left for the weekend play. We chose to sit outside and that was perfect for a July evening. We ordered two appetizers -- fruit and cheese (great presentation and nice selection of cheeses) and mushroom, goat cheese and asparagus empanadas (again... more

Thank you very much for writing a review! Honestly, I would say that the Riesling on the list is easily one of my favorite wines of all time, and I'm thrilled that you enjoyed the appetizers and salads. However, as manager, I am sorry to hear that you found the entrees to be disappointing. We pride ourselves on creating unique...

Each year while attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival we make sure to have a festive dinner at the Winchester. While our all-time favorite is the tang deh filet, we have enjoyed fine seafood and wonderful desserts there, too. We still remember the great chilled cantaloupe soup. The wine list is a thoughtful and memorable tribute to Northwest wines. more

My daughter and I, visiting OSF, decided to dine at Winchester Inn since it was so highly rated. We were not disappointed. The ambience and comfort were welcoming and warm - great Victorian charm. We had two appies - beans "tempura" in Panko, and duck spring rolls. Both were appetizing (hence "appie"), and both were non-greasy, a real feat for... more

You are very kind with your praise. I do agree that with the idea that properly cooked food does not need to be pretentious. We like to think that if you can find fresh local ingredients the food speaks for itself. I'll also be sure to tell your waiter that you enjoyed his service. I hope to see you both...

This place was amazing! The service was great! When I arrived, they greeted me by name as if I was a long time guest instead of a first timer. The food was superb. There is a great selection on the menu it was hard for us to decide. I would recommend the duck spring roll and the panko crusted green... more

I am thrilled to hear that you had a great time with us. I know that I personally could eat a barrel full of the green beans. We hope to have you back soon so that you can try some of the new creations from the kitchen. Best Regards, Drew Gibbs

My family of five were here on a recent Tuesday and were really surprised that we were one of only two other tables the entire two hours we were there. Equally surprising, even with only one other table being served, we still didn't have enough time for a dessert course at the conclusion of a relatively good meal. When I... more

Thank you very much for the feedback. While it is true that choices for younger children are limited with our menus, we are always happy to do what we can to accommodate their growing tastes. And, with advanced notice create dishes specially for them. I'm sorry to hear that you did not get a chance to stay for dessert. While...

Although advance reservation is recommended, we called on the spur of the moment just 90 minutes before our 8pm theatre performance, and were graciously accommodated. My husband & I each had a Caesar salad ($7 ea.), shared an appetizer of panko-encrusted green beans ($7) (delicious) and grilled wild salmon with blackberry chipotle sauce entree ($27). We were sorely tempted to... more

I stayed one night here and I was very impressed by the room and the friendly staff. My room had a big whirlpool tub and a walk in shower, king sized bed and more. The room looked like it was recently renovated but I was told that it was five years ago. Nonetheless I really enjoyed the room and the... more

It was great that you could stay with us. I really do hope that next time you stay the restaurant is open. I tend to be biased but how does Salted Caramel Chocolate Pot au Creme with Drambuie Whipped Cream not sound good? And, thanks for the kind words. Best regards, Drew Gibbs
