Not inexpensive and the portions are not huge, but excellent Cajun food. Service excellent, semi-formal (white tablecloths etc.) Excellent for a business lunch.
The harder they try, the worse it gets. We ate here a few times each time hoping the previous visit was just an off day. Nope, it is just an off my list place. Everything is over seasoned, fish is overcooked, gumbo tastes funny, etc. Each time we were there, other tables were complaining about the food and sending it... More
As a Cajun girl, I'm pretty spoiled when it comes to home-cooked Cajun food by my Momma. The first time we went to Gumbo's, I was pleasantly surprised by the delicious spicy gumbo and dirty rice. The seafood is fresh, the spices just right, and the desserts are delish! A great place for a celebratory dinner with friends, or a... More
Was just there 2 nights ago. There oysters Rockefeller were delightful. Great Cajun food! Great Ambiance! Great Service. When my father in law comes into town. He's there every other day. We love it!!!
This place is great. I've been here for dinner a few times all during business trips but the other night just stopped in at their bar for a refreshment and a couple of appetizers. Wow, did those hit the spot !! I had the shrimp and stuffed avocado, and my business associate had the calamari and a cup of gumbo.... More
We have eaten at the location in Bee Cave several times as well as the one that used to be in Westlake. The food and service are always reliably good. Despite the cajun fare, nothing is too spicy. I love the way the menu is arranged where you can choose which fish you want and then how you want it... More
I'm from Texas and My wife is from Louisiana and we're really picky about our steaks. Usually we grill at home because frankly ours are most often better than most of Austin's "finer" steakhouses but I'll not get into bashing any place here. Gumbo's dishes are all good but their tenderloins are divine. There is one not on the menu... More
Ate at the downtown Austin location during SXSW- excellent service, superb cocktails and very well prepared Cajun and Creole fare. I am very particular about gumbo, having eaten some of the best, and was pleasantly surprised by the balanced flavors and proper spiciness.
Very accomodating with delicious dishes for one person in our party who is vegeterian. The desserts were fantastic (we had the cheesecake, custard, and bread pudding). The main dishes we had were a po'boy, nut encrusted shrimp salad, and pasta. All were great. The wait staff ws friendly and attentive. We noted several regulars who didn't even need a menu... More
