As my friends fished in Homer, I wandered the town and talked to the locals. There was not much more to do at 8am in Homer when the shops open at 10! I spent a week in Homer recently, and after my first visit to the Spitfire, I ate there everyday thereafter. It's right on the docks. I could have jumped out the window and rolled into the bay. I can not wait for the place to open up again this summer. I can honestly say I had the best burger of my life here. Great views and right next to The Spit Sisters. I have a tough time deciding both are great places. more

I ate here for the first time last summer. It quickly became my one of my favorite restaurants in Homer. The Shrimp was probably the best I have ever had, and the Chicken Apple sandwich was awesome. Wow! What a fresh and delightful change to the typical offerings of pizza, burgers, and fried food. The food here is fresh and tasty. Growing up in Homer, I was often disappointed by the restaurant options offered in the town. None were really great, and most were overpriced. Last summer (2006) Spit-Fire Grille opened, and finally Homer got food that was not outrageously expensive but was as good as something you could find in any major city.
