Many reviews criticize it as being too tourist focused; but it’s really special and LOTS of fun! You cannot come to Juneau and not pay a visit. There is a lot of history and plenty of memorabilia (it’s a Hard Rock Café version of the Gold Rush era). Food is great, beer refreshing and the overall ambiance is the highlight... more

Our waitress "Jen" gave herself a 25% tip without us signing for it on our debit card. She wrote in the tip herself and we didn't know until we called the bank. more

Probably the most photographed downtown tourist attraction in Juneau. Great atmosphere, especially if the piano player is there. Lots of unusual things to see on the walls and ceiling. Usually crowded so expect to wait. more

Did not eat the food, so do not know if it was good or not, but it is a fun place with lots of history. more

The Red Dog Saloon was all that I hoped it would be. There is interesting "stuff" all over the walls and ceiling - see pictures. My Alaskan Amber beer was $6.00, the piano player did a great job with bawdy entertainment that we found ourselves singing along with. This is definitely a must see for adults. more

Clearly for tourists (aka "boat people") but a lot of fun. The food was good (especially the halibut pizza), the beer was OK, and the live entertainment was entertaining (only mildly off-color). Worth a visit. more

They play old country-style music. Live and recorded. The entertainers were fun and got the patrons involved. The decor is fun and floors are a hoot ;) Try the Halibut Pizza as an appy for the table. more

We stopped at the "saloon" for lunch and had a great time. The atmosphere was a mix of old west and big game hunter. It was fairly crowded and noisy, but was appropriate for the setting. There was sawdust on the floor, a man playing tunes on the piano, and a barkeep ready to fill your order. The food was... more

When I arrived at the Red Dog Saloon to have lunch, it was 11:30 AM on a Wednesday in early July, and the line was out the swinging doors and a short way down the street. Popular? Seems so! Chock full of atmosphere -- a mix of Alaskan male and western cowboy. The walls are covered with animal heads of... more
