I have to agree with a previous reviewer, the location and views are tremendous and the place promises so much. The staff are friendly, the furnishings are a bit confusing with a contemporary winebar and plastic seats that remind you of being at playschool. The imporant bit is the food and drink, the food portions are certainly large but the... More

My wife and I stayed in Lyme Regis ( with small dog) over Christmas week 2011. We ate out most days and 'By the Bay' was by far the most enjoyable restaurant. Excellent friendly and professional service and good range of choices on menu. The fish soup with a provencal flavour was superb (had to go back for a second... More

friendly staff, view amazing! Food tasteless and thoughtless. I was so looking forward to going out with my hard earned money and was very disappointed. I would not go back. More

After enjoying a meal here earlier in the year we decided it would be an ideal venue for our wedding reception in November. Jason & Ginette couldn't have been more helpful in terms of menus, timings and table layout etc ahead of the day and they and the staff made it a truly memorable event. Having prepared the restaurant with... More

Fantastic little bistro. Had booked a table at the acclaimed pub/restaurant further along the pier, after waiting for 25mins for a menu decided to look elsewhere and so pleased we did. Had an excellent meal and returned the next day. Staff couldn't be nicer and food great. Try the muscles wow, the best I've ever had! More

We visited one evening during the wonderful heatwave at the end of September 2011. There were several tables available - inside and outside. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are modern and pleasant with good views over the bay. This was wonderful while we watched the sun go down during the meal. My wife had a rump... More

Just got back from Lyme Regis, where we were filming BBC children's series Live N Deadly. Over the two days of rehearsals and filming, Jason and Tony at By the Bay kindly provided catering for our crew of 30 + as well as our audience. I cannot praise them enough for the service they provided. The breakfast and lunches were... More

Just off the beach, By the Bay benefits from substantial passing trade all day. We popped in for lunch, and having spent most of the week eating seafood and fish decided to order a couple of vegetarian dishes. The food was OK, but I felt we paid a premium for the location. Service was excellent. More

I recently visited Lyme Regis for the Bank holiday and had lunch here. The seafood platter was amazing - so fresh and had the best whitebate! I really recommend a visit and sit outside if you can when the weather is good! More
