The pub was warm, cosy and friendly with great staff. Steak dinner was excellent. Good find in Lyme Regis
It feels very much like a locals pub but the land lord was very welcoming. It does seem quite dark inside and perhaps some would think it needed a little up dating but personally, I think it would ruin its atmosphere. The first day I visited that pub was a day 'after the night before'! The Land-lord suggested a traditional... More
A lovely traditional old pub, cosy and welcoming, serving probably the best Sunday lunch we have had in a pub. Very fresh veg and good quality meat, served with all the trimmings by friendly, helpful staff, will definitely drop in again when passing to try the home made fish fingers.
We ate at the Volunteer once for lunch and twice for dinner during a week's stay in Lyme Regis. It was good value relative to Lyme Regis and we enjoyed attentive service. We know this pub quite well and like it a lot, until we arrived there on Monday evening at 8pm and decided to try the restaurant. We went in and the waiter told us to take a seat and he would come and take our order. We did this and then waited while he proceeded to do anything he could... More

We were early (about 6) so the local after work crowd was in and supplied a great, happy atmosphere and buzz. The food was excellent.... More

This was a very friendly place, lovely staff, and the fish fingers are amazing! The Marlborough wine was fantastic, too. Would definitely go back.
