I love Luigi's more to see old friends and meet up with great Bakersfield people than anything. This place is a landmark in Bakersfield. The food is definitely great, and their daily specials pretty tasty. Friday afternoon at lunch time...packed, noisy and less than efficient service...but the food was so worth it! The service did get better as the crowd thinned. They give choice of hard sourdough or soft french rolls, lots of good italian sandwich meats and cheeses. Eggplant Ravioli was killer, simply prepared in olive oil, parsely and parmesan cheese. Luigi's has the best pickled tongue in town! Now I know there are a lot of Basque restaurants in Bako and they traditionally serve pickled tongue with their meals, but Luigi's is by far the very best!.. and I never liked tongue until I tried Luigi's. more
