We enjoyed the spices and wonderful aromatic taste of the food. We had the dinner for two which was ample for us, but we aren't big eaters. I was quite disappointed by Zatar. It was far more expensive than it should have been given the portions and quality. Several of the wines on the wine list were out. Zatar is fantastic! The ingredients are fresh. The menu changes all of the time. The sangria is the best. The desserts are only so-so, but everything else is great. PS They don't take credit cards. more
Everything about this restaurant-the beautifully prepared fresh and delicious food, romantic decor, personal/friendly/knowlegable service, and incredible (primarily organic) winelist took our breath away. This little hole in the wall on Shattuck, close to University Avenue, is one of the most interesting and undiscovered restaurants in Berkeley.
