The first time I went to Troquet for a dinner banquet (held at the Atelier across from the main restaurant). The menu noted Caesar salad and skirt steak - I immediately thought, "60 people at this banquet = wilted salad + tough, dry, flavorless beef." We had both a lunch and a dinner here on our recent visit to O.C. Would advise coming here for dinner over many, many of the fancier hotel restaurants in Monarch Beach and Laguna Beach- we loved everthing about this small clubby restaurant. 3 out of 4 meals here have been excellent. Wonderful upscale lunch spot to escape craziness of South Coast Plaza shopping. On the 3rd floor in the Nordstrom's wing. I love their foie gras - always served beautifully & really good Caesar salad with parmesan tuille & deep fried capers (better than they sound!). The charticutrie (sp??) plate is abysmal... more
