Looks like a cafe from the outside, but the prices inside are not cafe prices. I had the clam chowder which was more of a potato soup with a few clams thrown in. My neice had the fish and chips and was pleased. The menu is mostly fried fish, and some salads. more

Barbara's is an institution... when I moved out here from New England 16 years ago, the locals insisted Barbara's fish and chips could match up with the best I'd had back there, and dammit, they were right. They use rockfish and get the beer batter just right. Also the deep-fried sea scallops are just plain fabulous, and the chowder is... more

Been making special trips to Barbara's for years, since changed from Hazel's, Chowder is not milk/creme based....but potato! The fish is so fresh it flops on the plate! Good bread, cole slaw. Our Son loves the calamari! still hungry? Just desserts key lime pie, or cheesecake will satisfy any desire for more food. Yum! more

The biggest surprise was our epicurian guest raving about the rockfish in the fish and calamari plate there. He said it was very tender and so very fresh. I had the grilled bass, again wonderful. The fried zuchinni was light and hot. Next time I will pass up the rice and try something different as a side dish. We came... more

Barbara's Fish Trap is one of our favorite places to stop on the Highway 1 coast. The Fish Trap (batter fried calamari, zucchini, fillet, prawns, scallops and fries) is fabulous. The seafood is wonderfully fresh and the batter is light leaving the fish juicy. The service is usually great (especially Melodie) even though they are always packed...but worth the wait.... more

We loved it! Got there at 10:35. They open at 11:00. A line was already forming. As soon as they opened the place was filled and more people were waiting in line for empty seats. We chose to eat outside at one of tables. It was a beautiful day! My husband ordered at the window. Service was fast. We both... more

I have dined at Barbara's many, many times True, they don't take credit cards, but will accept personal checks and they are always crowded...that is part of the fun. The food is always great, I love the prawns, the soup is great, the steamed clams are wonderful, the bread is top notch and noting all of the above, I plan... more

I'm from the Bay Area and have been to Barbara's Fish Trap three times. I'm surprised by some of the previous reviews- perhaps the reviewers were expecting a four star restaurant! Barbara's is a fun place with good food. It's a great place to bring the family and a fun place to bring guests from out of town. There is... more

Dine at Barbara's over the Memorial Day weekend, overall I was a little disappointed with the experience. The food was good, Fish and Chips were delicious as was the Calamari and Tempura Prawns. My wife ordered the steamed clams which was also good and served in a large portion. However, the service was very slow and unattentive. Also, the menu... more
