Dined here based on San Diego Magazine's 2009 choice for best French restaurant, and the "joie de vivre" projected by the restaurant's website. A quick update on Tapenade. I don't know if I'm thrilled about the fallout from the Economy but one experience has improved-this Restaurant. Tapenade has won my heart. We went to Tapenade for a special dinner with friends with whom we were visiting. My wife was wearing black, and the hostess (without any prompting) substituted a black napkin for the white one which was part of the table setup. My wife was impressed, as in lesser restaurants, one gets the white napkin anyway and then has white "fludge"... more
