Ok, for a local 'Die Hard" restaurant freak. I only search out the best in dinning atmosphere. Top O' the cove in La Jolla was my "Go to" place what I wanted to impress only the Loveliest ladies. There was only one table I would ever select and it was called 'Table # 6" tucked away in the middle of... more

Try not to be drawn in by the pretty facade of this restaurant, as the restaurant is actually one of the worst in San Diego. Granted, the restaurant may have a lovely view and decent food, but the poor, pretentious service is bound to completely ruin your experience. My boyfriend and I dined at this restaurant in July 2006. From... more

My boyfriend made a reservation about three or two weeks before the fourth of July. When he made the reservation, he specifically made it for buffet dinner. When we got to the restaurant about 7:30 pm, we were sent to the top level of the restaurant. Then, we were sent to the lower level. When we finally got to the... more

Dinner at this restaurant made my trip to Southern California. After walking up and down the coastline, my husband and I ate at the Cafe at the Top of the Cove for dinner to watch the sunset. The cafe is the more casual, bistro version atop the fine dining restaurant, Top of the Cove. My husband ordered a burger but... more

Tope of the Cove is a mockery of fine dining. Old and dilapidated surroundings, mighty than thou attitude, snail service with a sneer, 20 year old home depot patio furniture, grime filled walls, a wine list from the bargain section of Vons & then there is the food...... tasteless microwave fodder that arrived cold! A truly horrendous restaurant. Avoid like... more

We went expecting a nice setting, good food and good service and were disappointed on all three counts. We were ushered to the deck, which resembled a construction area with plastic sheeting pulled down on all sides as it was a very cold night. The room was very drafty, but our requests to be seated inside were refused. We made... more

I always make a point to catch the sunset from Top O' the Cove. This may be one of the most beautiful spots on earth. Definitely make a point to hit this place around sunset to experience something memorable and special. Now the bad part, though the view is breathtaking if you choose to go later in the day (or... more

I went with a party of 6 to their happy hour (M-F, 5-7pm in the Cafe/bar section). It was incredibly disapointing. The $3 martinis were TINY, and the food tasted horrible. Their Corn Fries tasted like fritos, the calamari was cold and soggy, and the pizza was worse than your typical frozen supermarket variety. Not sure how the food fares... more
