Fantastic! This place 'gets it'- probably because it is owned by the 'Nick' of Claim Jumper fame (before bought by a large corporation).
Wonderful neighborhood restaurant with a stylish interior, small but diverse menu. We had an early dinner here and chose a table outdoors. If you don't like the sound of traffic, stay indoors; if you are a people watcher, this is the place for you! My husband had the prime rib, a high-quality 10 ounce boneless cut, medium rare and perfect.... More
After a great homecoming at CSULB, we decided to take a stroll along 2nd street in downtown Long Beach. After walking around a bit we checked online for a good restaurant. We found Nick's and we are glad we did. The wait for non reservations was about an hour, so we decided to sit in the bar. Actually this was... More
We met friends here and had a wonderful experience! Everyone was attentive and friendly and the food was awesome. I had the sea bass and really enjoyed it. The butter cake for dessert was amazing! I wish we lived in CA so we could eat here often. I would highly recommend this place! And make sure to call a week... More
This restaurant is a great addition to the variety on 2nd Street. They serve upscale American cuisine in a great, upscale casual atmosphere. The servers are delightful and the presentation of the food is inventive and creative. A must try!
I hate to ruin a good meal discussing business, but Nick's ended up being a good spot for a little dinner. The wine list had fair prices. I was surprised to see a Cakebread Chardonnay at a reasonable price and ordered a bottle. The Italian Cobb Salad was very good and the service was spot on. I would like to... More
Think Gourmet at Grandma's house..only spic and span clean. service JUST right..Polite with no overdo" prices fair , not cheap but you get value. one can split and try more items.. We like: Prime Rib-dip sandwich..fried Asparagus spears...Ahi Tartare ( sauce is sort of like Remoulade at Arnaud's/New Orleans) For Breakfast: Eggs Benedict with the Short rib meat..to die for
Visited this Nicks with two friends from the UK who were staying on the Queen Mary. We all raved about our steak...theirs sirloin with huge stuffed baked potatoes and mine one of the best steak salads I've ever had, enhanced by a perfect Manhattan. When a breeze came up, a blanket was provided to my chilled friend since we didn't... More
While visiting Long Beach we ventured down to 2nd Street, Belmont Shores and stopped in Nick's around noon. Since it was busy and we assumed it was good, and we were not disappointed. We hadn't read any of the reviews so this was a shot in the dark. Our server Carly was top notch all the way. She answered all... More
Fantastic food and service! Blackened halibut sandwich with fries and Cakebread cab - yummy! Service was wonderful, the best we've had in a long time! Try the asparagus fries as an appetizer. We had the warm butter cake for dessert - to die for!
