I've been patronizing Hazel's for 20 years, and I find it to be the best restaurant in Modesto. It has consistently outstanding food, excellent service, and a very pleasant atmosphere. I don't seem to understand the appeal of this "fine" dining establishment. I have eaten at this place twice and both times there were problems with my order. Hazel's is an upscale restaurant with upscale prices. It has 3 or 7 course dinners...but a course is not very big. First course was 1 stuffed won ton. Second was a cup of coffee-shop quality brothy soup. Third was a spoonful of cold pasta spirals with a little dressing. Fourth was a lettuce salad with lots of pungeant balsamic vinegar.... more
