This unassuming restaurant was a real highlight of our trip. We loved the staff and the food was wonderful. We didn't find much good food in Newport, so definitely put this at the top of your list. more

There are many reviews on this restaurant so I will make it short and sweet. At Mama D's it is ok to wait for a table, because you can sit outside in the cool Newport Beach air and a hostess will bring you complimentary bread while you wait. You get better service at this restaurant just while you're waiting than you do in most really good establishments during your whole meal. The food is magnificent and you realize that from the first taste of the bread they give you to snack on while you wait. There is a great little kids area for kids to color, blow bubbles... more
