Very authentic, tasty S.Indian vegetarian food. If you are looking for this type of food, I can make an unquivocal recommendation that you visit this place. The ambience is rather unimpressive. Go for the food and the authentic experience, not the ambience. Dosas are great. The "Thali" or set meal is very good too - and a good value. more
I went to the restaurant a few days back and ordered Mixed Parotta... There was a DEAD ROACH in the food... I told the server about it and he just replaced it with another plate and didnt even apologize. I used to go there regularly. But now, NEVER... So beware people... more
One of the few places that has good authentic south indian food. But it can be very crowded and service isnt too good. more
It was quite an experience to eat authentic Madreas cuisine while we were visiting SFO. The food and the taste is exactly the same as the ones in Chennai. The restaurant is quite crowded, so the earlier the dinner the better. more

SB is one of my favorite places in the bay area. However, I do not think I'd be able to go there often as they raised their prices significantly today. Thali cost went up from $10 to $15!!!!! Ouch! What are they thinking??? more
