We (6 people) had dinner in your restaurant last night (7/30/90). Your atmosphere is great but the food is horrible. You were 2/3's empty which was a bad sign for the heart of the summer. My husband & I stayed here this weekend-they had a great deal online-99.00. We stayed in the Hayden House. It was a nice room w/ a sitting area & modern shower. I'll detour to Essex just to stop by the Griswold Inn when I'm visiting the area. Lovely old Inn. Great to visit the bar in the winter when the fireplace is going. more
The Griswold Inn is a classic, and the food is consistently quite good. The atmosphere cannot be matched; the food is competent and fine, the waitstaff attentive and warm. Absolutely a must visit, no better place to go in the area for a fun time at the main bar room, and they have a great restaurant too. The Sunday Hunt breakfast brunch is very nice. I have not spent much time in the wine bar, but it looks nice. more
