The food was so crappy. I ordered a crepe and it was barely edible. My daughter's chips were inedible. The atmosphere is so hippyish.
We had a lobster roll, falafel, curried chicken salad and grilled chese sandwich. All delicious - although the falafel was a Middletown interpretation. For desert the family split a chocolate crep, and they have good coffee !! It is a comfortable place to hang out, use the wifi and meet a friend, and have a good cup of coffee or... More
The New England Emporium is a classic cafe that is set up like a west coast hipster cafe. They have a great selection of coffees, and food. The food is a mix of wraps and salads. The food is pretty good, I had a Chicken Caesar wrap. The wrap was large and served with a side of Deep River chips.... More
Lunch is great. Had breakfast once which was good but lunch is great. There are a lot of business people here at lunch time. It does get busy but worth it. I havent had to wait if I did it would be worth it. They have a diverse menu. The dining room is funky with some couch seating and some high... More
We visit Middletown a few times a year to wander in the Main Street stores and shops and sometimes as a pit stop on the way to the beach. Great sandwiches and coffee, very cool interior or you can eat cafe style on the street. Lots of good place to eat in Middletown but we feel at home here.
We enjoyed lunch here after visiting Wesleyan. One daughter had an amazing ham and cheese crepe topped with jam and powered sugar - "gorgeous" she said as she took her first bite. The other orders including the lobster roll acclaimed by other reviewers were good but not excellent.
When I can't decide where I want to go for lunch, The Emporium is my Go To place. The sandwiches and salads are unique and delicious. I love crepes and this is the only place around where you can get an authentic Breton buckwheat crepe. Grilled cheese is always a great options and their soups are good too. Prices are... More
What better to eat in New England than a lobster roll? Well, this one is perfection.....lobster meat in every bite, and a perfectly delicious meal that is reasonably priced. Try it, you'll love it too!
We stopped in Middletown for lunch and saw people eating in the window of the New England Emporium and Marketplace. We went in to check it out and the atmosphere was so nice we decided to stay and eat. We both had "grown-up grilled cheese sandwiches", jalapeno popper and buffalo chicken. Both were excellent and we will definitely be back... More
This is a great place to have lunch, whether take-out or at the restaurant itself. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich is especially good. There is a nice selection of crepes, sandwiches, and salads, and the prices are reasonable.
